27 Dresses

As the movie reviews are now rolling in one per day, here is the latest. This afternoon amidst the rain and clouds, we watched suffered through the movie 27 Dresses. It didn’t take long to realize that we were about to completely waist the next 2 hours of our life, but it was like watching a train crash and we couldn’t hit the stop button. If you are looking for a study in bad acting, bad directing, bad writing, bad music, and a bad storyline; this is the movie for you. Otherwise, stay away from it like it would suck your brain dry – which is exactly what it does for 120 minutes.  This is the sort of debacle that you will end up watching on a Tuesday night three years from now on Lifetime because you have seen The Matrix six straight nights on TNT.

PS: Still nothing major with the baby.

Lars And The Real Girl

While we all wait – and believe me, we are doing lots of waiting – we have taken some advise and in between walks are watching good emotionally charged movies. We kicked of the moviefest with ‘Lars and the Real Girl;’ a story about a guy who thinks that a doll is a real person and falls in love with her. Okay, I know that it sounds strange, but it really is a gem of a movie and we are highly recommending it. It is a great love tale about belief in each other…set in Wisconsin. The setting of the movie actually makes it more believable. 🙂

Crib Building And Naked Coffee

First things first….we went this evening to a sketch/imrov comedy show up in Denver that stars two friends of ours – Mary and Eric. The show was a lot of fun and they did a great job with the skits (even the old people stuff). If you are in Denver any of the next two weekends, I highly recommed going to one of the shows on either Friday or Saturday nights. It’s at the John Hand Theatre in the Lowry area of Denver. Oh yea, it’s called Naked Coffee 2

Secondly, we got our crib today! Still no dresser, they say that will be a couple more weeks. Ahna and I put it together this afternoon and got some sheets on there for some photos. Till the dresser comes in, the crib will be acting as a clothing storage area. It looks great and we are really pleased with the selection. The room is getting close!

Gold, Gold, Gold!

Last night was the 4th grade (A and C track) annual Colorado Program. Out here in 4th grade, they study Colorado history and this program is a way that they act, sing, and dance to show everything that they have learned. Ahna was the ‘director’ of the program, Tracy was the ‘backstage manager,’ and Chuck was the ‘sound and lights guy.’ The program was wonderful and the kids did great. Here are a few pictures:

It’s Hard To Find A Good Time To Practice

So Ahna relayed an amusing story from this morning’s commute: While trying to get onto the interstate, she stopped at the light to let traffic by before crossing the road. You know, like your supposed to do. It was a sort of sudden stop, and she looked into the rear view mirror to make sure that the vehicle behind her noticed that she had lit up the brake lights. Low and behold, the guy was a little late in noticing – there was no collision – as he stopped just shy of her bumper. Wanna know why he wasn’t paying attention? Cell phone? Reading? Writing? Shaving? Sleeping? Nope….he was playing the trumpet. Seriously. (The picture isn’t of the guy from this morning. I was surprised how easy it was to find a picture of someone playing the trumpet while driving, so I had to include it).

That’s One Hot Pregnant Woman!

Well with things moving along, but not much news to report, I found this scene at home this evening and thought it fitting to share with all of you. Ahna is finishing report cards for the students while attempting to stay cool – temperature wise. 🙂

Furniture, Where Art Thou?

Who knew?! We purchased our furniture set (crib and dresser) during the last week of February….and it still isn’t in! I spoke with the store yesterday, and they said that they might have the crib next week but that the dresser/changing table won’t be in for another week after that. I know that we won’t be using the crib for a while, but it sure would be nice to have it in the room so we can organize and get everything put away. the picture is of the crib that we ordered (ours is in ‘espresso’ not cherry). We will post more pictures when the room is all set.

Last Day Of The Season?

I dunno, but it was good skiing! I went up to Arapahoe Basin yesterday to make some turns and grab a mug. Yup, 40 days of skiing this year…maybe one or two more on the way. Biggest problem? No cell phone coverage on the hill – which is great for any other time in life except for the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. There is still a ton of snow up there, as a matter of fact they have received a foot in the last three days (May is actually one of the snowiest months in Colorado). I was saddened to have to take my mug from the bar – just in case I don’t make it up there anymore. This year, four of us were first timers in the mug club…you have to get them on opening day, and they sold out in 3 hours. It’s nothing super fancy, but we did get discounted beer all year long and a mug at the end of the season. mmmmm, beer. Pictures are taken on Loveland Pass looking north at Cathedral Peak.

Feed The Tree

‘Feed the tree’ is the name of a song by a band called Belly, who was popular back in my senior year of high school. It’s a great song…but I’m not exactly sure why that came to my head when I saw these pictures.
